New pedestrian and cycle bridge at Dapdune?

The Wey divides Guildford from north to south and restricts pedestrian and cycle movement from east to west.  Particularly serious is the area around Wharf Road where no crossing is available between the Railway Bridge north of the Cricket Ground and Bridge Street.  However there is a crossing of the railway known a Yorkie’s Bridge from Walnut Tree Close leading to the University campus and the Guildford Park area.

It is therefore suggested that a pedestrian and cycle path be created, to connect Wharf Road to Walnut Tree Close, in order to access Yorkie’s Bridge, with a new bridge across the River at a suitable point in between.
