Design of buildings can be judged in so many ways, Practicality, Cost, Aesthetics, Sustainability etc. Design also evolves as new materials become available and/or the cost of materials changes.
Modern design can invoke strong reactions both for and against.
Guildford Society wants to see good design in all new developments and re-developments. We have our Bi-annual design awards to highlight good design happening locally.
We will also highlight interesting architecture from outside the borough..

Pressures for development are increasing. Planning rules are being eased. The Society’s commitment to standing up for Guildford is needed more than ever.
