Network Rail has replied to our concerned expressed in a letter to Chris Grayling Secretary of State. The letter is available at this link. The society is still concerned that Network Rail is taking a short term 20-25 year view and is compromising the expansion and ccc of the station in the medium to long-term. The Solum scheme we must assume has a design life of circa 100years and it should be positioned to provide for changes in rail demand.
The Society will be raising the matter with the new council.
We have also posted a short summary of the planned improvements to the local rail system as far as they are known.
Help us make Guildford better
We want our town to be vibrant, attractive and liveable. We support development that brings a sense of place and enhances the best aspects of our town. If such aims can be embraced, we believe Guildford has the chance to lead the way in enabling sensitive and sustainable development.
Pressures for development are increasing. Planning rules are being eased. The Society’s commitment to standing up for Guildford is needed more than ever.
