After a delay of about a year it appears work is starting in earnest at Guildford Station to develop the Solum Scheme
Work starts in early 2021 that will provide a new temporary two-storey car park with 121 parking bays and an access road that will ease congestion outside the station. Both the car parks will be open to passengers in Summer 2021. There will be a temporary reduction in the number of current parking bays whilst constructing the new car park.
The new car park, we believe, will free up part of the site to allow the first block to be built at the north end of the site.
The developers warn that due to the nature of the work and the machinery and tools used, some disturbance will be unavoidable.
A table has been published showing the approximate car parking space availability during construction.
It should be noted construction work is about to start on the Replacement Walnut Tree Pedestrian Bridge and construction continues at sites further up Walnut Tree Close. We hope the authorities have considered the impact of all these sites on the One Way System and the Farnham Rd Bridge.
