We are at present setting up a revised Local Strategy and Economy Group, and are seeking to strengthen its membership. We are looking for members who can contribute to the group through their interest in Guildford and how it handles the challenges ahead.
Guildford has been one of the most successful towns in the country but we now have issues with the decline in retail, plus major employers moving from the town.
The Society would like to have a forum that can propose the direction the town should be taking and provide expertise on Strategic Economic and Social trends to the whole of the group.

We want our town to be vibrant, attractive and liveable. We support development that brings a sense of place and enhances the best aspects of our town. If such aims can be embraced, we believe Guildford has the chance to lead the way in enabling sensitive and sustainable development.
Pressures for development are increasing. Planning rules are being eased. The Society’s commitment to standing up for Guildford is needed more than ever.
