Tech Nation is an organisation that provides coaching, content and community for founders and start up organisations in the Hi-Tech sector in the UK.
It has recently produced the latest in its annual overviews, which started on 2015, on investment in the UK tech sector. Despite Covid the UK is still doing well with Venture Capital investment ranking third in the world.
But in 2021, looking to tech's past achievements is not good enough. The report focuses on what’s next for UK tech; the challenges that are being faced by stakeholders in the ecosystem; and how scaling companies have the potential to build back in a way that delivers benefit for everyone.
Tech Nation note that the UK has been historically strong in deep tech: R&D intensive, innovative tech developments. To ensure this continues more investment and emphasis will need to be placed on both new tech creation and application.
Guildford ranks 16th in towns/cities attracting investment in the UK and 4th in the South East. This is a encouraging result but it must be noted that compared to major centres such as Oxford (£344m) Guildford at (£15M) is comparative minnow.
Help us make Guildford better
We want our town to be vibrant, attractive and liveable. We support development that brings a sense of place and enhances the best aspects of our town. If such aims can be embraced, we believe Guildford has the chance to lead the way in enabling sensitive and sustainable development.
Pressures for development are increasing. Planning rules are being eased. The Society’s commitment to standing up for Guildford is needed more than ever.
