In 2021 Lisa Townsend, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and the Surrey Police Chief Officer team took the decision to retain Mount Browne as the headquarters, instead of relocating to a new site in Leatherhead. This is a major change to the plans for the site outlined in Policy A33 which is atteced below for reference.
Work has now taken place to determine how the site occupied by Surrey Police needs to change to best serve the public in the future.
Mount Browne has been the headquarters of your local police force for over 70 years. The police recognise that parts of the estate are ageing; and that they are no longer designed to meet the needs of the force in the 21st Century. The facility also needs to be far more sustainable and efficient, both financially and environmentally.
The aim is now to create a modern working environment for officers and staff to deliver the service demanded by the community.
